Things about Stig
Dear, sweet, kind Janne of Whats blogging my view hunted down a rare copy of this book on Stig Lindberg for me, and I’ve been poring over it all weekend. The text is all in Swedish, so I’ve had to use key words gleaned from captions and the internet to open up some of the information.
There are pages and pages of his amazing range of tableware, and lots of it was new to me. I found the brilliant Japanese site Biotope, where I found a near-exhaustive catalogue of Lindberg goods, some familiar, some new.
I was intrigued by this image in the book , and used Google to discover that Japan’s passion for Stig Lindberg goods goes way back, evidenced by the in-store wrapping paper he designed in 1959 for Japanese department store, Seibu. More Google hunting dug up another Japanese site, Graphio-Buro, which is selling framed sheets of the Stig Lindberg wrapping paper.
