Expo and Pop Up pics
I didn’t get great pics of the Threadcount Collective stand at the Design Indaba Expo, as the lights are low and there are a squillion people milling about, but I managed this one, which should give you an idea of the little 2 x 2m salon we managed to pull off with framed fabric from each participating member of Threadcount, a couple of lampshades covered in our fabrics, as well as fabric-covered notebooks and also little totes. It looks really, really lovely, and the response has been brilliant!
Today’s the last day of the Expo (Sunday 28 Feb), but continuing until 6 March is our Pop Up Shop at 45 Upper Leeuwen Street in the BoKaap (click here for directions).
It’s looking so pretty inside, where each of us has set up a display of our goods, and you can also see swatchbooks of all our designs, and buy running metres of fabric too.
My stuff (someone called it “Slinky Malinky” yesterday 🙂
The wonderfully vibrant work from Tracy Rushmere’s ShineShine.
Here’s Cara Rosa’s Twine fabrics, mostly printed on organic basecloth.
And this is Jane Solomon’s Fabricnation.
Thanks to everyone who came over to say Hi! at our Expo stand – it was great to meet you. Hope to see you again at our Pop Up Shop before the end of the week. To find it, click through to the Google Map.

It looks brilliant! Well done to all of you!

Thanks, Jesse. It’s been a mix of exhausting and exhilirating. Not sure I’ll do it again though…

Ooh I love your little nook of the pop up shop, I’d love to sit in that sunny window for a cup of tea! Lovely!

I could spend hours poking through your wares- looks lovely and inviting. I particularly like your little nook, but I admit I’m biased.
Well done all of you! I really admire what you’re doing.
I hope you can get a little break now that the setup is over.

your stand looks great, the frames work really well at bringing all the different work together. I wish I was able to get to your shop too, I think I would be browsing for a long time trying to decide what to get

Hi Heather
I’m not a regular visitor to your blog, but found you via a link from sfgirlbybay! I love your latest teapot designs – congrats!
Also, I couldn’t help but wonder if you know who Slinky Malinki is? Slinky is an adventurous black cat from a series of children’s books by Lynley Dodd. A rather obscure mix-up, but made me smile 😉

Hi Josie Thanks so much for this! I’m going to be following up with a post about Slinky Malinki for sure! I do appreciate your taking the time to let me know. The funny part is that Skinny laMinx is a bit of a corruption of my siamese kitty’s name. There must be something undeniably feline about that group of sounds.
Best, Heather
