USA trip – 2nd leg: San Francisco
After our week in NYC, Paul and I will be heading for San Francisco. Paul’s mum lived on the West Coast when she was a child (she saw Elvis performing on her 13th birthday), so apart from the fact that it looks like an amazing part of the world to visit, it has a bit of a pilgrimage aspect to it too.
The other pilgrimage I’ll be making is to the Heath Ceramics factory in Sausalito. I’ve been supplying Heath with tea towels and napkins for a while, and have been working on a big order in custom colours for them lately, so visiting the factory is going to be hugely exciting event. Can’t wait.
The other exciting event in which I’ll be participating, alongside Cathy Bailey of Heath Ceramics, is the Hello Etsy conference in San Francisco.
Rena Tom will be convening one of the sessions (check out the full lineup here), hosting a panel discussion in a live version of her Startup Stories feature. Along with Ryan Meis and Sarah Labieniec of Lab Partners, Cathy and I will be talking about how we got our businesses going.
And in between all this? We’re planning to walk that hilly city flat, see the bison in Golden Gate Park, take a million photos, find a yoga class, and eat yumtastic food. San Francisco, I can’t wait to meet you!

Your trip sounds amazing. I grew up just outside of San Francisco. SF is my favorite city and i think you’ll love it.

oh Heather! you’re finally going to be on my side of the US! I’m a San Franciscan native, born and bred and still here! it’s too bad my weekend is already filled up or else i would try to get myself into that etsy thingamabob that i’ve never heard of. guess the marketing team didn’t reach far enough to notify me. or i’m just really disconnected from etsy these days being a busy working person.
so sad i will not get the chance to meet you. but it makes me happy to know we’ll be in the same city, maybe even the same zip code, at the same time. i hope you enjoy your trip to SF. though i LOVE nyc like a second home city, SF is where my heart is. i’m sure you’ll love, love, love it. and the family connection to paul’s mom doesn’t hurt.
HAVE FUN
