Sketching at the Design Indaba
I have splashed out MAJORLY and bought myself a mini-sabbatical / a ticket to the Design Indaba Conference. I spent today at the CTICC listening to an amazing array of speakers (including Paula Scher, Seymour Chwast and Alexander Chen! See the full lineup here), and will continue to bask in the super-inspiring presence of other amazing people tomorrow and Friday too.
I’ve been doing small sketches of the speakers from my spot in the packed auditorium. It’s nice opportunity to practice drawing, even though it’s almost too far away to see the people properly, but it’s also a way of helping me remember who each one was, as there is so much info coming at us over these three days, these mnemonic devices are very helpful.
Find my pics on Instagram and Twitter too (I’m @skinnylaminx on both).

Love drawing while I listen, just not only taking notes…
but cannot draw so good….mine are poor lines 😉

It keeps the focus, doesn’t it? Although I think I missed some of the speakers’ slides 🙂 x

These are really lovely Heather. I’m doing a class that has me drawing again – it’s been a while and I’d forgotten how therapeutic it is. Can I ask a random question? What is your pen of choice for these?

Thanks! I generally use a UniPin 0.5 fine line pen, but most of these were done with another fine liner as I’d forgotten my favourite at home. Happy drawing! x
