WDC2014: The yellow tide advances
Have you noticed? Cape Town is slowly turning World Design Capital yellow. I’ve even started noticing yellow things that might always have been yellow, but suddenly, it looks to me like Cape Town Yellow!
The latest to join the call to PAINT IT comes from Jason Bakery (only my favourite Bree Street morning stop) where the outdoor benches have got a serious case of yellow fever, now that they’ve been spruced up with our Pebble print. Love it!
Just a block away from Jason Bakery, Robert Sherwood Design not only has a bright yellow Panton109C front door, he also has a super elegant World Design Capital yellow dot glowing away all night long. I’m a little jealous of that dot, actually.
Next door to Robert Sherwood Design is Revolution Cycles, and I got an action shot of their painter hard at work turning their door yellow, too!
A little further away, down in the fashion district on Long Street, vintage clothes boutique Afraid of Mice said “Hello, Yellow”, and made a glorious window evoking Cape Town being blown away on a yellow breeze. Look, their front entrance is yellow too. It’s adorable!
What I said about things that might have been yellow before, but suddenly make you wonder if they’re World Design Capital Yellow? This building on Long Street suddenly jumped out at me last week. I like to think they’re flying the flag for our city this year.
Looking forward to seeing who’s next. Give me a yell on Twitter or Instagram and I’ll come and take a snap.

OKHA in Hatfield Street, definitely something yellow-related happening there today. And leaving town from Mill St onto De Waal, big circular graffiti piece started going up … might be yellow eventually …
