Friends & Neighbours: LIM
I moved to Cape Town in 1996, and the LIM store on Kloof Street has always been a fixture in my neighbourhood. It took me a few years before I felt sophisticated enough to go inside, but these days I’m SO sophisticated, I’m in there all the time 😉
When putting together our 2016 LookBook for the BRISE SOLEIL fabric collection, I had the brainwave of collaborating with local furniture manufacturers on each of our looks. Although LIM is quite different from the Skinny laMinx shop, I love the signature clean, modern lines, so I was thrilled when owner Pauline Mutlow agreed to the collaboration.
Together, we decided that her steel sofa would work beautifully with our Weft design, in concrete, and we set the plan in motion…
The sofa turned out beautifully, and when we accessorised it with rugs, furniture and lights from LIM, a large linocut by Paul Edmunds, and with the concrete colourway softened by the addition of our Brancusi Stripe cushion in shell, and the Bowls cushion in lemon slice, our Less is More look was complete.
Now, how about a tour of the LIM store?
Next time you’re in Cape Town, don’t miss out! Visit LIM at 86 Kloof Street, or shop online.
