Cook Better workshop
Years and years ago – back in 2007 – I used to illustrate the recipe pages for Fair Lady magazine, where the food editor was Nikki Werner. At a point, we actually met each other, and then Nikki and I got to know each other a bit better. I made a curtain for her kitchen from doilies, for a while she used to rent a desk in my studio above the Skinny laMinx shop, and just this weekend I drove 45 minutes to dive into a cold 6:30am ocean to celebrate her birthday with her.
Nikki and her partner Brandon de Kock are truly some of the best, most interesting people I’ve met. They tell the best stories, make the best food, are kind and interested and engaged, and really are the kind of people who inspire me to be better. I’m SO glad they’re my friends.
And not only are they nice, they’re also doing amazing work! Their book Cook. Better has just launched in Germany, and now they’re working on a series of food workshops where they painstakingly unpack each of the basics in the book, clarifying and demystifying and helping you make them your own.
Nikki asked me to do some illustrations for her Cook. Better workshops series, and I got all excited about Risograph, so now we have the first of our series of printed info booklets. Isn’t the the texture tooooo delicious?
This one is all about Vinaigrette, and you can get a copy if you come to the Cook.Better workshop on Saturday 24 February. I’ll be there too!
