Planty Inspiration
I have a lot of houseplants. A LOT! At Skinny laMinx HQ on Bree Street, we have windowboxes outside, plants in the shop, and a roof garden above the fabric studio, while at home, there are hanging ferns in the stairwell, two outside balconies, an enclosed balcony and other various indoor plants dotted about the place. Just take a look at some of this green bounty o’ mine:
I love them all dearly, but they stress me out when they get sick, and even worse when they die. I still suffer mightily when I recall the magnificent Burro’s Tail I once had tried my best for, and yet it slowly but surely withered and died before my very eyes.
So when I spotted the Houseplant Journal, which blogger Darryl Cheng says is “about the basics of responsible plant parenthood… for the long term”, I was an instant fan. I want to be a good plant parent too! Thanks, Darryl. I’ll be following @houseplantjournal daily.
I’m also quite delighted to have discovered Life as a Garden, on Facebook which is a South African site run by the South African Nursery Association to promote gardening as the ultimate leisure time hobby. It’s fantastic, and full of useful information like “How To Improve Your Soil”, and videos on these topics too.
PS: If you like this kind of thing, you’ll love the idea of Garden Day, which is coming up on 9 October. Read more about it here.

This is really IMPRESSIVE! Really lovely to see what can be done with plants in an apartment. Well done!
