20 Days of HappyThanks #6: Vorster and Braye

This post is the sixth in a series of 10 instagram-based giveaways devised to promote our fellow business owners, as well as to give us a chance to say THANK YOU to all the people who support Skinny laMinx on social media all year long. A huge thank you to Martin and Colin of Vorster & Braye for sponsoring a prize that’s so nice, I might have to go and get one for myself (details at the end)!

Ceramic design company Vorster and Braye started after Martin Vorster, who had made a career switch from accountancy to architectural design, became frustrated with the lack of large, well-designed planters. He took matters into his own hands, starting with an evening pottery class, and persuaded his partner, electro-mechanical engineer Colin Braye to join him… and next thing, Martin and Colin were converting an ex-nightclub space on Cape Town’s Long Street into their dream studio.

Colin’s engineering skills and niftiness with a welding machine meant they could make all their furniture, and they laid out the studio to include production space, storage, manufacture, a photographic area and a plant-filled balcony too.

These two have had a hand in every single thing you can see in the studio, adding a whole new level to the idea of a ‘handmade business’… and the ceramics they make are super-gorgeous too!

The Vorster and Braye HappyThanks Giveaway
